The Latina Women’s Association will host a free film screening of “Hay Un Pais En El Mundo” on Thursday, February 28 at 6 pm in the Warner’s Nancy Marine Studio Theatre. The film is a documentary, directed by José Pintor, about a national registry of Dominican literature, painting, economy, society, gastronomy, agriculture and popular art. It includes participation from important national music representatives, and experts and intellectuals in each topic.
A young Dominican musician from the Diaspora tells a girl everything special about his country, without knowing that she also carries it inside. This is a journey that explores dominicanidad through history, architecture, music, gastronomy, tourism and economy… approaching the particularities and peculiarities of the Dominican people.
“As Dominicans, there are many things we can be proud of and love for our people will be the engine to preserve them and to fight for their improvement. This can be achieved only with the knowledge of what we are and the effort to preserve it” said José Pintor.
José Pintor is a director and film producer. His titles include “La Victoria Prison” (2004), “Sanky Panky” (2007), “Santicló” (2008), the documentary “Yemen” (2009), “Sanky Panky 2” (2013), “There Is No Other Remedy” (2014), “Tomorrow Do Not Forget” (2017), and the documentary “There Is a Country in the World” (2017).
The film is shown in Spanish with English subtitles. Admission is free.
